授記有二種：一、不現前得記，由未有解；二、親於佛前得記，必有解也。

There are two kinds of conferment of prediction: first, receiving a prediction when not face-to-face, because one does not yet have understanding; second, receiving a prediction in person before the Buddha, which necessarily requires understanding.
