5.332

〈方便品〉明說小不稱佛意故憂，見大機發稱佛意故喜；此文明見在火宅故憂，見出火宅得小果故喜也。

The 'Expedient Means Chapter' explains that he was distressed because expounding the small did not accord with the Buddha's intent, and joyful because seeing the great capacity activated accorded with the Buddha's intent; this text explains that he was distressed because he saw them in the burning house, and joyful because he saw them come out of the burning house and attain the small fruit.
