5.65

長行明見諸菩薩受記作佛是故生悔，此明事中生悔也。次明同入法性云何如來以小乘法而見濟度，此明於理生疑。今偈頌明同入法性而失佛果德，此據理中生悔，何故爾耶？

The prose explains that seeing the bodhisattvas receive prophecies of attaining Buddhahood was the reason remorse arose; this explains the arising of remorse amidst phenomenal events. Next it explains: having equally entered the Dharma-nature, how could the Tathāgata deliver them with a Hīnayāna teaching? This explains the arising of doubt regarding the principle. Now the verses explain that having equally entered the Dharma-nature, they lost the virtuous fruits of Buddhahood; this is based on remorse arising within the principle. Why is this so?
