5.67

理事俱得生於疑悔，但偈長行互現文耳。「我獨經行時」下，此頌長行中在會見聞故悔，接前偈來者，上明失於德果，今明失名聞果。前辨三密故是德果，今云名聞滿十方謂名聞果。又前辨失上弘之德，故云不能於未來演說無上道，今辨失下利之能，故云廣饒益眾生，是故異也。

Both principle and phenomena can give rise to doubt and remorse; it is simply that the verses and prose present the text reciprocally. From "when I was walking alone" onwards, this versifies the remorse from seeing and hearing in the assembly from the prose. Connecting to the preceding verse: above it explained the loss of the fruit of virtue, while here it explains the loss of the fruit of renown. The former distinguished the three secrets and thus was the fruit of virtue; here, saying "renown filling the ten directions" refers to the fruit of renown. Furthermore, the former distinguished the loss of the virtue of propagating [the Dharma] above, hence saying "we cannot in the future expound the unsurpassed Way"; here it distinguishes the loss of the capacity to benefit those below, hence saying "broadly benefiting sentient beings." Thus they are different.
