From “Formerly, in a certain city” onwards versifies the third, the father finding his son. The first half distinguishes the city where the son was lost; the second half clarifies the place where the son was found. From “All that I possess” onwards versifies the fourth, directly bequeathing and entrusting the wealth and goods. From “The son, recalling his former poverty” onwards versifies the third, rejoicing upon obtaining the household estate. This is again divided into three distinctions: the first half-line relates former poverty; the next line clarifies present wealth; the final half-line distinguishes joy. Each of the three sections has two [aspects]. The first section has two: first, former poverty; second, an inferior disposition. The second section has two: half a line clarifies inner wealth, and half a line clarifies outer wealth. The third section has two: first, exceedingly great joy; second, obtaining what has never been before.
