「所以者何」下二偈，釋不欣大也。空無大小者，此是成論人聲聞空也。成論師不體此意，謂是探明大乘。蓋是小乘教中自有二說，《毘曇》悟人空但得其淺，《成論》悟法空則得其深也。

The two gāthās from “What is the reason?” onwards explain not rejoicing in the great. That “emptiness has neither large nor small” refers to the śrāvaka emptiness of the scholars of the Chengshi lun (*Tattvasiddhi). The masters of the Chengshi lun failed to grasp this meaning and claimed it was an advance clarification of the Mahāyāna. In fact, within the Hīnayāna teachings there are naturally two accounts: the Abhidharma realizes personal emptiness and attains only its shallow aspect, while the Chengshi lun realizes dharmic emptiness and attains its deep aspect.
