7.25

互有優劣。直往菩薩十信，方便用強、波若用弱，以諸菩薩多修眾行濟度眾生故方便用強，不欲專心修於空觀斷除煩惱故波若觀弱。二乘專修空觀以斷煩惱故波若觀強。今迴小入大始學行行度物故方便用弱。

They are mutually superior and inferior. In the ten faiths of a direct-advancing bodhisattva, the application of expedient means is strong and the application of prajñā is weak: because bodhisattvas mostly cultivate manifold practices to deliver sentient beings, the application of expedient means is strong; and not wishing to concentrate single-mindedly on cultivating the contemplation of emptiness to eradicate afflictions, the contemplation of prajñā is weak. The two vehicles concentrate single-mindedly on cultivating the contemplation of emptiness to eradicate afflictions, so their contemplation of prajñā is strong. Now, turning from the small and entering the great, they only begin to learn active practices to deliver beings, so their application of expedient means is weak.
