9.98

起已遊行中已見親友，但說小乘教未稱昔日友，故不說見耳；今既示珠，還如昔友，方乃稱見也。

In "having gotten up, he journeyed about," he had already seen the close friend, but because [the Buddha] only expounded the Hīnayāna teaching, he was not yet called the friend of former days, so it does not say he saw him. Now, having shown him the jewel, he is once again like the friend of former times, and only then is it called "seeing."
