Preaching neither-cause-nor-result causes sentient beings to emerge from the four propositions and transcend the hundred negations; hence it is called the true meaning of conveying outward. Moreover, the sūtra says: 'Buddha-nature has five names'; among the five names, it is named the One Vehicle. Since the sūtra already clarifies that Buddha-nature is neither cause nor result, how could the One Vehicle not be neither cause nor result? Although there are three propositions or four propositions as the function of the vehicle, the fourth proposition is the essence of the vehicle. Therefore, explaining that the preceding three propositions return to neither-cause-nor-result, the fourth proposition also, by virtue of neither-cause-nor-result, has the functions of cause, result, and so forth.
