The Prajñā and the Lotus Sūtra are both the correct contemplation, the equal, great wisdom; revealing that the path is non-different, it is therefore said that 'the Lotus Sūtra is another name for Prajñā.' Hence the treatise states: 'Prajñā is one dharma; the Buddha spoke of it under various names, establishing different terms for it in accordance with the capacities of sentient beings.' Here, it is only with reference to the teachings and for the sake of the persons that there are distinctions. The teaching of the Prajñā clarifies direct bodhisattvas becoming buddhas; the teaching of the Lotus Sūtra clarifies that bodhisattvas who turn from the small to enter the great become buddhas. The sūtras differ with reference to the persons, but their becoming buddhas is non-different. It is like the elder's great mansion and the seven treasures, which from beginning to end are non-different; it is only that at the time of entrusting the wealth, it could not yet be said that the poor son was the elder's son, whereas at the time of delegating the family estate, his natural kinship could at last be joined to entrust it to the son.
