一者、慈悲忍辱名之為行，觀畢竟空秤之為解，謂解行法師。自有解而無行、有行而無解、無行無解、有行有解。前三可為弟子，後一方是法師。

First: benevolence, compassion, and forbearance are called practice, while contemplating ultimate emptiness is assessed as understanding; this refers to the Dharma master of understanding and practice. There are those who have understanding without practice, those who have practice without understanding, those with neither practice nor understanding, and those with both practice and understanding. The first three may be disciples; only the last one is truly a Dharma master.
