The Eulogy says: The fourth is the assembly of nuns of the inner family. In Sanskrit it is Yaśodharā; here it is translated as 'Holder of Renown'. 'Yeshutuoluo' is corrupted. Her physical beauty was known near and far; giving birth to Rāhula was praised by gods and humans, hence she is named 'Holder of Renown'—'renown' means a beautiful reputation. Traditional commentaries explain that she was a Gandharva woman; when they bear sons they are music gods, and when they bear daughters they are jade women. If she was called a jade woman, how could she have a son? Moreover, after the Buddha left the household life, the parents of the Holder of Renown wished to take her back, which clearly shows she was not a jade woman. The Adbhutadharma-sūtra, the Sudāna-sūtra, and the Ruiying jing all state that Rāhula was Gopā's son. The Buddha had three consorts: first, Gopā; second, Yaśodharā; third, Mṛgī; each had twenty thousand court ladies. Gopā had no sons and was a jade woman; those sūtras named him after the senior mother, so there is no contradiction. Furthermore, a sūtra says the Buddha had three sons: first, Sunakkhatta; second, Upamāya; third, Rāhula. Therefore the Nirvāṇa-sūtra says, 'The monk Sunakkhatta was the bodhisattva's son when in the household.'
