10.12

贊曰：下所挍量境。中有四：一生數類，二所施具，三年歲，四得道。此初三也。生類中有二：一別示，有五：一六趣，二四生，三形類，四想殊，五足異。此等義門如別章說。「閻浮提金」者，瞻部樹名，此洲之北岸近樹水下有紫金，光映蔽日月，故以為名。二「如是等」結。

Commentary: Below is the realm used for comparison. Within it there are four: first, the number and classes of living beings; second, the materials bestowed; third, the years and age; fourth, the attainment of the Path. These are the first three. Within the classes of living beings there are two: first, an individual demonstration, which has five: (1) the six destinies, (2) the four kinds of birth, (3) shapes and kinds, (4) distinctions of perception, and (5) differences of feet. These doors of meaning are as explained in a separate chapter. “Gold of Jambūdvīpa” is named after the jambu tree; beneath the water near the tree on the northern shore of this continent there is purple gold whose radiance eclipses the sun and moon, hence it is named after it.
