贊曰：十九頌半頌後三段。分三：初十頌於說經人違順之相，次三頌半結會今古以示眾人違順之相，後六頌結勸眾人除違行順。此初。有二：初一半所遇佛，後八頌半行違順者。行違順者中分五：初三惡人益勢善士增勤，次一語加能忍身害能受，次二勝果遂生，次一惡人從化，後一半善士增道。不頌善名既起。「罪畢已」者，惡罵、加害轉重令輕，先業罪故。

The Commentary says: Nineteen and a half verses reiterate the final three sections. They divide into three: the first ten verses treat the marks of opposition and compliance regarding the person preaching the scripture; the next three and a half verses identify and unify past and present to show to all people the marks of opposition and compliance; the final six verses conclude by exhorting all people to eliminate opposition and practice compliance. This is the first. It has two parts: the first verse and a half treats the buddhas encountered; the following eight and a half verses treat those who practiced opposition and compliance. The section on those who practiced opposition and compliance divides into five: first, three verses on the evil persons' increasing hostility and the good practitioner's increasing diligence; next, one verse on enduring verbal abuse and accepting bodily harm; next, two verses on the subsequent arising of supreme fruits; next, one verse on the evil persons being transformed; finally, one and a half verses on the good practitioner increasing in the Path. It does not versify the rising of good repute. 'When their sins had ended' means that evil reviling and physical harm transformed heavy retribution into light retribution, because of their past karmic sins.
