贊曰：品文分二：初湧出請，後如來付。此初。有二：初標、後釋。不但欲以濟他，兼希自行，故請當說。不爾，「亦言」便為無用。「真」謂真實，「淨」謂離染，「大法」謂一乘。身恭、語演、述心三請。

The Commentary says: The chapter text divides into two: first, the entreaty of those who welled forth; later, the entrustment by the Tathāgata. This is the first. It has two parts: first, the statement; later, the explanation. Not only wishing to benefit others, but also hoping to cultivate themselves, they therefore entreat him to preach in the future. Were it not so, the word 'also' would be useless. 'True' means authentic; 'pure' means free from defilement; 'Great Dharma' means the Single Vehicle. Physical respect, verbal expression, and stating their mind: these are the three entreaties.
