10.145

贊曰：此明時節。愚者心迷謂是小時，智者情解滿百千歲，轉換其心令彼不覺。又報化之利有殊，聖凡之見有別。又佛現神力實百千歲，佛神力令眾生不覺。然促不延時為論，但說世尊八十入滅。又聖凡眾所聞雖同，經時證道獲悟全別，亦不相違。

Eulogy: This clarifies the duration of time. The deluded minds of the foolish thought it was a short time, while the understanding of the wise saw it as lasting a full hundred thousand years, their minds having been transformed so that they were unaware of it. Moreover, the benefits of the reward and transformation [bodies] differ, and the perceptions of the noble and the ordinary are distinct. Furthermore, the Buddha's manifestation of divine power actually lasted a hundred thousand years; the Buddha's divine power caused sentient beings to be unaware of it. However, in terms of speaking without extending the duration, it is merely said that the Bhagavat entered nirvāṇa at eighty. Moreover, although what the noble and ordinary assemblies heard was the same, the elapsed time, realization of the path, and attainment of awakening were completely different, so these do not contradict each other either.
