The Eulogy says: Sixth, entering extinction. The Avataṃsaka-sūtra says: 'Having accomplished the buddha-activities, there are ten kinds of meanings in manifesting the entry into parinirvāṇa: first, to clarify that all conditioned things are entirely impermanent; second, to clarify that all conditioned phenomena are not secure; third, to clarify that the destination of nirvāṇa is the most secure; fourth, to clarify that parinirvāṇa is far removed from all fears; fifth, because various humans and gods are attached to the physical body, to clarify that the physical body is impermanent and a phenomenon of decay and destruction, causing them to seek to abide in the pure Dharmakāya; sixth, to clarify that the power of impermanence is strong and cannot be turned back; seventh, to clarify that conditioned phenomena lack autonomy; eighth, to clarify that the phenomena of the three realms are all like defective vessels lacking solidity; ninth, to clarify that parinirvāṇa is the most genuine and cannot be destroyed; tenth, to clarify that parinirvāṇa is far removed from birth-and-death and does not arise or cease. It is through these ten meanings that nirvāṇa is manifested.'
