The Eulogy says: Fourth, already fulfilling samādhi. There are two [parts]: first, enumerating the sixteen samādhis; later, concluding with the immeasurable. First, 'wonderful banner sign' means lofty and prominent like a banner, adorned with myriad virtues. Second, 'Lotus' means penetrating the principle of the Single Vehicle. Third, 'pure virtue' means severing defiling hindrances and attaining supreme virtue. Fourth, 'play of the star king' means: 'star' refers to constellation images; 'king' refers to sovereign mastery; 'play' refers to sporting freely. It means attaining sovereign mastery and being able to manifest myriad forms, like constellations constantly entering playful sport to benefit sentient beings. Fifth, 'without conditions' refers to the absorption of cessation or the objectless absorption, because it is free from cognitive grasping. Sixth, 'wisdom seal' means using the empty principle of tathatā as the seal of wisdom, or using wisdom as a seal to determine truth and falsity, reality and delusion, and so forth. Seventh, 'understanding the languages of sentient beings' means the absorption of unimpeded eloquence. Eighth, 'gathering all merit' refers to the absorption that gathers the king of blessings. Ninth, 'purity' means being able to generate the seven purities, nine purities, four purities, and so on. The four purities are purity of basis, purity of cognitive object, purity of mind, and purity of wisdom. Tenth, 'play of supernormal powers' means being able to initiate great supernormal powers. Eleventh, 'torch of wisdom' means illuminating all realms of reality and convention. Twelfth, 'king of adornment' means being able to possess both inner and outer adornments. Thirteenth, 'pure radiance' means emitting divine light. Fourteenth, 'pure womb' means containing myriad virtues. Fifteenth, 'unshared samādhi' means not being attained in common with the two vehicles. Sixteenth, 'sun's revolution' means being bright like the sun, revolving and illuminating the four modes of birth. These are all realms traversed by bodhisattvas of the tenth ground, mostly belonging to the fourth dhyāna because of their distinct excellence.
