Commentary: Below is the second part, individually revealing that when there is calamity, chanting the name brings liberation to all. There are seven passages, divided into two: first, the three calamities of fire, water, and wind; later, the four miscellaneous calamities. This is the first. Fire harms both great and small; by being mindful of the name, none are burned. Water can harm only when deep; therefore one reaches shallow places. A light wind does not harm; only a heavy wind harms; a black wind inevitably harms people. Therefore it specifically mentions encountering it; even if the wind were not black, what would prevent it from also harming? In the section on wind there are four parts: first, seeking treasure and encountering wind; second, a good person teaching them to be mindful; third, escaping calamity and difficulty; fourth, concluding with the cause of the name. "Chuan" (船) means a boat. "Fang" (舫) has two sounds: the fanqie of fu-wang, and the fanqie of bu-lang. The *Yupian* states: "It also means a boat." Joining two boats together forms a fang.
