贊曰：第三二子化父。有五：一啟母請詣佛，二母令子化父，三稟教行化，四「彼時妙莊嚴王後宮八萬四千人」下信心歸佛。五「爾時彼佛為王說法」下佛應導利。此初。有二：初標、後釋。「爪」音側挍反，正應作「爪」。又作「抓」者，《玉篇》「掐也刮也。」爪之搔物曰抓，雖聲同，非指爪。

The Commentary says: The third is the two sons transforming their father. It has five parts: first, informing the mother and requesting to go to the Buddha; second, the mother ordering the sons to transform their father; third, receiving instructions and carrying out transformation; fourth, from “At that time, the eighty-four thousand people in King Śubhavyūha’s harem” onward, faithful refuge in the Buddha; fifth, from “At that time, that buddha preached the Dharma for the king” onward, the Buddha responding to guide and benefit. This is the first. It has two parts: first, indicating; second, explaining. “Zhua” (claw) is pronounced ce-jiao fan; it should properly be written as “爪”. When written as “抓”, the Yupian states: “To pinch, to scratch.” The claw scratching something is called zhua (抓); although their sounds are identical, it does not mean fingernails/claws.
