贊曰：下品第五段釋迦讚勸。有三：初讚美普賢，次讚持經者，後於行者違順之相。此初。有三：一讚護助經，二歎其願行，三護持名者。歎願行有三因：一自利，二利他，三歎修人。

Eulogy: The fifth section of the chapter is Śākyamuni's praise and encouragement. It has three parts: first, praising Samantabhadra; next, praising those who uphold the sūtra; and finally, the signs of transgression and compliance toward practitioners. This is the first. It has three parts: first, praising his protection and assistance of the sūtra; second, extolling his vows and practice; third, protecting those who uphold the name. Extolling vows and practice has three causes: first, self-benefit; second, benefiting others; third, praising the person who cultivates.
