10.49

贊曰：大文分三：初告修行法師差別，次顯所得功德多少，後顯六根殊勝果用。此初也。據實法師總有十種，此略說五：一持，二讀，三誦，四說，五寫；例餘供養、施他、聽聞、思惟、修習，亦皆法師。初三易而不論，後二難而不說，舉中五種例難、易故。

Commentary: The main text is divided into three parts: first, declaring the distinctions among Dharma masters who practice; second, revealing the quantity of merits obtained; third, revealing the superior fruit and function of the six sense faculties. This is the first. In reality, Dharma masters are of ten kinds in total; here five are briefly mentioned: (1) upholding, (2) reading, (3) reciting, (4) explaining, and (5) copying. By analogy, the remaining ones—making offerings, giving to others, hearing, contemplating, and cultivating—are also all Dharma masters. The first three are easy and thus not discussed; the last two are difficult and thus not mentioned; citing the middle five exemplifies the difficult and the easy.
