贊曰:此中有二:一說過者癩病,二輕咲者得罪。三勸生恭敬心。輕咲得罪有十病,如文可知。「繚戾」者,「繚」音力小反,繞也,《說文》唯有了達、蓼菜、目精、朗瞭,更無了音字。有二「燎」字,一燎炙、二繚繞。今從力小反。「角睞」者,「睞」音洛代反,《玉篇》「童子不正也,視也、內𭾤也。」
Commentary: Herein there are two parts: first, those who speak of their faults contract leprosy; second, those who laugh at and disparage them incur sin. Third, an exhortation to generate a reverent mind. Regarding incurring sin through laughing and disparaging, there are ten ailments, as can be known from the text. As for "distorted and crooked" (liaoli 繚戾), liao 繚 is pronounced with the fanqie of li and xiao [liao], meaning "to wind around." The Shuowen has only liaoda 了達, liaocai 蓼菜, mujing 目精, and langliao 朗瞭, and has no other character pronounced liao 了. There are two characters written liao: one means "to scorch or roast," and the other means "to wind around." Here it follows the fanqie of li and xiao. As for "squinting and strabismic" (jiaolai 角睞), lai 睞 is pronounced with the fanqie of luo and dai [lai]. The Yupian says: "The pupil is not centered; it means looking, or glancing inward."
