Verses: Thirty verses, divided into three: the first verse states the theme; twenty-eight verses versify the above; the last verse concludes. The twenty-eight verses that versify the above are divided into two: the first twenty-three on ordinary fragrances, and the last five on noble fragrances. The ordinary fragrances are again twofold: twenty-one verses on fragrances of the desire realm, and two verses on fragrances of the form realm. The desire realm is divided into two: the first seven briefly explain the fragrances of humans and devas, and the next fourteen verses explain the fragrances of humans and devas extensively. The first again has two: five verses briefly versify objects and sentient beings' fragrances among humans, and the next two briefly versify sentient beings and objects' fragrances among devas. The fourteen verses that explain fragrances extensively are divided into two: the first nine on human fragrances, and the last five on deva fragrances. Among humans there are three: the first two on fragrances of objects, the next five on fragrances of sentient beings, and the next two on fragrances of hidden treasures. Among the five verses on sentient beings, the first two are fragrances of visible beings, and the next three are fragrances of hidden beings. The five verses on devas are divided into four: (1) flowers, (2) palaces, (3) devas, and (4) amusements. The five verses on the noble are divided into four: two on bhikṣus, one on bodhisattvas, one on buddhas, and one on sentient beings.
