贊曰：此二頌定。所離有四：一戲謂分別戲論，二咲謂談謔，三離自愚癡，四離惡眷屬，離親屬尋故。不離有二：一翻第四親近善緣，二一心除亂翻前三種。故《遺教經》云：「汝等比丘，當離憒閙獨處閑居，思滅苦本。若樂眾者即受眾惱」，廣說如經。

Eulogy: These two verses praise meditative concentration. What is abandoned has four aspects: first, play, meaning discursive conceptualization; second, laughter, meaning joking talk; third, leaving one's own ignorance; fourth, leaving evil retinue, because of abandoning thoughts of relatives. What is not abandoned has two aspects: first, the reverse of the fourth, drawing near to good conditions; second, single-mindedly removing distraction, the reverse of the former three kinds. Thus the Testament Sūtra says: "You monks should leave clamor, dwell alone in seclusion, and contemplate the extinction of the root of suffering. If one delights in crowds, one receives the distress of crowds," as fully explained in the sūtra.
