贊曰：此授記也。多陀如義，阿伽度來義，阿羅訶應義，三正義，藐等義。又三正義，佛陀覺義，即是如來、應、正等覺，十號之中初三號也。《增一阿含》云：「佛告比丘：諸佛出世必為五事：一轉法輪，二度父母，三無信之人立於信地，四未發菩薩意令發菩薩意，五授當佛記。」此中亦爾。其佛三號多分依斷、恩、智三德如次以明，故不說餘。

The commentary states: This is bestowing the prophecy. Duotuo (tathā) means "thus"; agadu (āgata) means "come"; aluhe (arhat) means "worthy"; san (sam-) means "correct"; miao (samyak-) means "equal." Furthermore, san means "correct"; fotuo (buddha) means "awakened." That is, Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha—the first three titles among the ten epithets. The Ekottarika-āgama says: "The Buddha addressed the monks: 'When buddhas appear in the world, they must perform five tasks: first, turning the wheel of the Dharma; second, delivering their parents; third, establishing faithless people on the ground of faith; fourth, causing those who have not yet generated the bodhisattva resolve to generate the bodhisattva resolve; fifth, bestowing the prophecy of future buddhahood.'" It is also like that here. The three titles of the Buddha are mostly explained in accordance with the three virtues of eradication, grace, and wisdom in order, which is why the rest are not mentioned.
