2.58

贊曰：梵云緊捺洛，此云歌神，「緊那羅」訛也。初歌四諦，次歌緣起，次歌六度，後歌一乘；或初三種歌三乘之教行，後一歌一乘之理果，故名持法；或歌一乘教、理、行、果如次配之，隨佛所說一會之法所宜歌故，如世樂音歌君德故。

The commentary says: In Sanskrit it is kinnara, which means here 'song spirits'; 'kinnara' [in the older transcription] is an error. The first sings of the four truths; the second sings of dependent origination; the third sings of the six perfections; the last sings of the Single Vehicle. Alternatively, the first three sing of the teachings and practices of the three vehicles, while the last one sings of the principle and fruition of the Single Vehicle, and is therefore called 'upholder of the Dharma'. Alternatively, they sing of the teaching, principle, practice, and fruition of the Single Vehicle respectively in that sequence, singing appropriately in accordance with the Dharma expounded by the Buddha in this one assembly, just as worldly musical sounds sing of the virtues of a sovereign.
