3.71

贊曰：此頌辟支不知。辟支望聲聞名利根，麟角望部行亦名利根，亦復不知。若未入聲聞決擇分善而作獨覺便成麟角，入決擇分已後作者皆成部行。在解脫分未定生時可成麟角，生數多故，已定生者亦成部行，生數少故。

The Eulogy states: This verse praises what pratyekabuddhas do not know. In comparison to śrāvakas, pratyekabuddhas are called 'sharp-facultied'; compared to those who practice in groups, rhinoceros-horn [solitary wanderers] are also called 'sharp-facultied'; yet they also do not know. If, without having entered the aids to penetration of the śrāvakas, one becomes a solitary realizer, one becomes a rhinoceros-horn type; those who do so after having entered the aids to penetration all become group-practicing types. While in the aids to liberation, when their births are not yet determined, they can become rhinoceros-horn types because their remaining births are numerous; those whose births are already determined become group-practicing types because their remaining births are few.
