The Eulogy says: The following six verses demonstrate the characteristics of being different, divided into two: first, one verse indicates that they are different because they lack good and possess evil; next, five verses explain that they are different because they possess evil and lack good. This is the first. 'Having never cultivated the root of goodness' refers to the supramundane expedient wholesome roots. Although having arisen from beginningless time, they are mostly dark and inferior; they have only innate goodness and lack uncorrupted causes. Because they cling to the five sensory objects and firmly grasp them without abandoning them, taking this as a condition, delusion generates karma and craving moistens rebirth. Therefore, all the branches of saṃsāra—birth, old age, and death—and all distresses, the tree of suffering, increase and grow. Because they lack supramundane expedient wholesome roots and have both delusion and craving as their cause, clinging to the objects of the five desires and refusing to abandon them, the ignorance that generates karma mostly arises from being deluded internally, and the craving that moistens rebirth mostly arises in connection with the five desires. Here, based on the ignorance of the desire realm generating karma, it speaks generally of clinging to desires, stating the most prominent aspect.
