贊曰：下三頌思救不可得，為三：初半頌思起因行，一頌得果已思，一頌半思救不可得。此初也。見諸眾生有此二緣遂起悲心，發心修行思惟將救。

The Commentary says: The three verses below concern considering that rescuing them is impossible, divided into three parts: first, half a verse on thinking to give rise to causal practice; one verse on reflecting after having attained the fruit; one and a half verses on considering that rescuing them is impossible. This is the first. Seeing that sentient beings have these two conditions, he then gave rise to a mind of compassion, aspiring to practice and contemplating rescuing them.
