4.76

贊曰：此結成前義。此愚法者，若我滅後更遇餘佛方便說化，於此法中便得決了，故亦能知但化菩薩；不逢佛者即有不知，是故我今非不堪說等。故《瑜伽》云：「若已建立阿賴耶識，依無色界亦入滅定，信有藏識不斷絕故。」或復此疑非疑趣寂，即疑增上慢既不化得，云何世尊不成不堪說法人？故此釋言，我在必化得除我滅後等。

The Eulogy says: This concludes the previous meaning. These persons ignorant of the Dharma, if after my passing they encounter another buddha who expounds and transforms them with expedients, will promptly gain decisive understanding regarding this Dharma; therefore they will also be able to know that he only transforms bodhisattvas. Those who do not meet a buddha will include those who do not know; therefore, at present I am not incapable of expounding, and so forth. Thus the Yogācārabhūmi states: "If the ālayavijñāna has already been established, relying on the formless realm one also enters the cessation attainment, because of believing that the storehouse consciousness is not severed." Alternatively, this doubt does not concern those who tend toward quiescence, but rather concerns those of excessive pride: since they cannot be transformed, why does the Bhagavat not become a person incapable of expounding the Dharma? Therefore this explains that when I am present they will definitely be transformed, except after my passing, and so forth.
