本事相者，《瑜伽論》云：「謂除佛本生，宣說前際若人若法諸所有事。」《涅槃經》中唯說往法，如我出世所可說法名曰界經，𤘽樓秦佛名甘露鼓，𤘽那含牟尼佛名曰法鏡，迦葉佛時名分別空。不說往人，據實通也。

As for the characteristic of itivṛttakas, the *Yogācārabhūmi* says: 'It refers to, excluding the Buddha's past births, proclaiming all events of the past relating to either persons or dharmas.' In the *Nirvāṇa-sūtra*, it speaks only of past dharmas: such as 'the Dharma that could be taught when I appeared in the world is called the *Dhātu-sūtra*; under Krakucchanda Buddha it was named *Amṛtadundubhi*; under Kanakamuni Buddha it was named *Dharmādarśa*; during the time of Kāśyapa Buddha it was named *Vibhajyaśūnyatā*.' It does not speak of past persons, but in reality it encompasses them.
