The Commentary states: From here on is the third part: the metaphor of considering a method of rescue. Regarding "If my children and I do not come out in time," an explanation says: because sentient beings are ill, the Bodhisattva is also ill; because sentient beings emerge, the Bodhisattva also emerges. In truth, he emerged long ago; it is not that he begins today to emerge together with his children. To properly explain this: Śākyamuni's transformation body left household life, achieved enlightenment, and entered nirvāṇa, and in this present body he manifests emergence from the burning house. The śrāvakas and others who now encounter the Buddha also emerge from birth and death in the present time during Śākyamuni's era; therefore it is said they "come out in time." The Buddha in truth came first; hence it was said earlier, "Although I have safely emerged from this."
