The Commentary says: This is the thought of impartiality, which has two parts: first, that he should not give small ones; second, that he should give large ones to all. From "Now these young children" downward is his hypothetical thought. "Boundless" means having no end or limit. Speaking of the two kinds of wisdom is called "inferior carts." Due to possessing the gotra and having previously generated the great aspiration, they are called "young children." Being capable of becoming buddhas in the future, they are called "my sons." The compassion being non-dual is called "loving without partiality." Being adorned with the seven noble treasures is called "seven-jeweled carts." Each cultivating their own wisdom to completion, with conditioned wisdom not being one, is called "their number is immeasurable." Therefore, with an impartial mind, bestowing according to their faculties is called "giving one to each"; universally bestowing the Great Vehicle "should not be differentiated." The pronunciation of tong (童) is the phonetic blend of tu and hong (徒紅反). Today it refers to young boys; in ancient times it referred to servants. In antiquity it was written with the character tong (僮); today this refers to servants and bondservants. The Yupian states: "A young child, immature and unenlightened, a designation for one who has not yet been capped."
