贊曰：下答有二：初標、後釋。此標也。凡夫離欲伏諸煩惱名免火難，離三惡趣極苦逼迫名全軀命，未免人天當於火宅全軀命故。「免」音亡辨反，黜也，《玉篇》赦也脫也解也去也。今依《玉篇》。

The Commentary says: Below, the reply has two parts: first, the statement; second, the explanation. This is the statement. For ordinary beings, separating from desire and subduing the defilements is called "escaping the disaster of fire"; escaping the intense suffering and oppression of the three evil destinies is called "preserving their physical lives"; not yet escaping the human and deva realms corresponds to preserving their physical lives in the burning house. The pronunciation of mian (免) is the phonetic blend of wang and bian (亡辨反), meaning to dismiss; the Yupian says it means to pardon, to escape, to relieve, to remove. Here we follow the Yupian.
