The Commentary says: Below is the third [part], matching the assets. Here, it matches the many fields: "free from fears and the like" matches the field of abandonment [of defilements], and "boundless knowledge and vision" matches the field of wisdom. Fears are of five kinds: first, fear regarding livelihood, arising from the attachment to means of living based on discriminating a self; second, fear of ill repute, arising from the apprehension of performing unbeneficial actions; third, fear of death, arising from the conception of loss and destruction due to the view of self; fourth, fear of evil destinies, arising from evil karma without encountering the buddhas; fifth, fear of crowds, arising from perceiving one's own attainments as inferior and others' as superior. Decline, distress, grief, and suffering refer to the breaking up of households, destruction, and all manner of multiple sufferings. The above collectively explains the karmic fruits of suffering in saṃsāra, because dark obscuration by ignorance and folly greatly increase, and because they are the root of affliction and karma. These are the causes of suffering. Not comprehending the past, future, and present correspond respectively to ignorance and dark obscuration; or they correspond respectively to delusion regarding the Three Jewels. Because of realizing the principle and severing afflictions completely without remainder, all unconditioned virtues of abandonment are perfected, and accomplishing knowledge and vision means that the virtues of wisdom are fulfilled.
