5.64

贊曰：此解佛說同，所以疑斷。「從生及出家」身方便也。「得道」者意方便也。「轉法輪」者語方便也。初說三乘同三世佛教，故言亦以方便說法。三業乖張可令疑起，色心相順所以疑除。又始、末說乖可令疑起，初後語順故令疑滅。

The Commentary says: This resolves that the Buddha's preaching is identical, by which doubt is severed. "From birth and going forth from the household" is the physical expedient means. "Attaining the Way" is the mental expedient means. "Turning the wheel of the Dharma" is the verbal expedient means. At first speaking of the three vehicles identically with the teaching of the buddhas of the three times, it thus says that he "also speaks the Dharma by means of expedient means." If the three actions were divergent, it could cause doubt to arise; because form and mind are in accord, doubt is therefore eliminated. Furthermore, if the beginning and ending preachings were in contradiction, it could cause doubt to arise; because the initial and later words are in accord, it causes doubts to be extinguished.
