5.78

贊曰：令憶本心說《法華》而復本也。初化小機而向大，名為聲聞而說大乘《妙法蓮華》，迴心已後名教菩薩之法、佛所護念，故知妙法蓮華亦傍名無量義等也。體性功能有別，對機顯理有殊，分為二經故耳，如初卷說。

The Commentary says: Causing him to recall his original mind, speaking the Lotus Sūtra to return to the origin. Initially transforming the lesser capacity to turn toward the great, it is called speaking the Great Vehicle's Wonderful Dharma Lotus for the śrāvakas; after the turning of the mind, it is called the teaching for bodhisattvas, protected and remembered by the buddhas. Therefore, one knows that the Wonderful Dharma Lotus is also collaterally named Anantanirdeśa (Innumerable Meanings) and so forth. Their essential nature and functions are distinct, and revealing the principle in accordance with the capacities is different; hence they are divided into two sūtras, as explained in the first fascicle.
