Commentary: The first half [refers to] grooms and attendants, and the second half indicates giving. Bin (儐) is pronounced bi-ren; it means assisting. The Yupian says: “It means guiding.” Going out to receive a guest is called bin; entering to assist in a ritual is called xiang. Furthermore, bin means to advance or to array; it is also written as bin (檳). Here, those who lead in front are the bin, and those who follow behind are the cong. The appearance of the cart described above is the same as in the prose section, detailing its attributes. Points where it differs from the preceding are briefly explained following the text. Readers should interpret each one in comparison with the prose; fearing prolixity, I refrain for now.
