6.236

贊曰：此明諦求。有二：初一頌諦求，後一頌半不求。外典至心不輕，捨外道教乃可為說。至誠感神，剋念作聖故。

Commentary: This explains genuinely seeking. There are two parts: the first one verse is genuinely seeking; the latter one and a half verses are not seeking [non-Buddhist texts]. One who has utmost sincerity and does not slight others in the outer scriptures and who renounces non-Buddhist teachings—only to them may one speak it. This is because utmost sincerity moves the spirits, and overcoming improper thoughts makes one a sage.
