信解為本，方能說喻。論從破病窮子為名，經從根本法名信解。名據勝立，未勞為例。

Faith and understanding are the root; only then can the parable be spoken. The treatise takes its name from shattering the affliction of the prodigal son; the sūtra takes the name 'Faith and Understanding' from the fundamental dharma. The names are established according to preeminence; there is no need to make them identical.
