6.255

贊曰：此明虔仰，表有九義：一從坐起，表從二乘發大心故。二整衣服，表具任持菩薩戒故。三偏袒右肩，表作一乘吉祥事故。四右膝著地，表降昔執二乘心故。五一心，表專求大不受餘經一句偈故。六合掌，表心冥佛說識權實故。七曲躬恭敬，表自身心皆俯順故。八瞻仰尊顏，表心觀教理，覩法化二身故。九而白佛言，彰信解故。

The Commentary says: This explains their devout reverence, which manifests nine meanings: First, rising from their seats signifies arousing the great resolve from the two vehicles. Second, adjusting their robes signifies fully maintaining the bodhisattva precepts. Third, baring their right shoulders signifies performing auspicious deeds of the Single Vehicle. Fourth, kneeling with their right knees on the ground signifies subjugating their past attachment to the mind of the two vehicles. Fifth, being single-minded signifies exclusively seeking the Great [Vehicle] without accepting even a single verse of other sūtras. Sixth, joining their palms signifies their minds uniting with the Buddha's teaching and discerning the expedient and the real. Seventh, bowing reverently signifies their own body and mind submissively according [with the Buddha]. Eighth, gazing up at the venerable countenance signifies their minds contemplating teaching and principle and beholding the two bodies, the Dharma[-body] and Transformation[-body]. Ninth, addressing the Buddha signifies faith and understanding.
