贊曰：此第四段子遂依行。「先取價」者，初發二乘菩提之心學聞思慧，此真勝德，名為取價。後位方始作五停心、念處觀等，漸折伏煩惱，名尋除糞。「與」者為也。順用佛言，故名尋與。

Commentary: This is the fourth section: the son thereupon practicing accordingly. 'First took his wage' means initially arousing the aspiration for the bodhi of the two vehicles and learning the wisdom of hearing and contemplation; this true superior virtue is called 'taking his wage.' Only in the subsequent stages does he begin practicing the fivefold methods for stilling the mind, contemplation on the stations of mindfulness, and so forth, gradually subduing defilements, which is called 'immediately clearing away dung.' 'Yu' (與) means 'for' or 'with.' Complying with and applying the Buddha's words is why it says 'immediately cleared away with [them].'
