6.341

贊曰：下別與語教示。有三：一不令西東，二隨須即與，三假稱父子。此初也。「咄」音當沒反，《說文》「相謂也」，字書「吐也」，今取相謂呼也。勿復退墮却入生死修外道法，名勿餘去。「加汝價」者，與汝脩慧四善根故，加於前位聞、思慧故。

Commentary: Below is speaking to him individually to instruct him. There are three parts: first, not letting him go east or west; second, giving him whatever he needs; third, provisionally calling him father and son. This is the first. The character tuo (咄) is pronounced in the fanqie dang-mo. The Shuowen says, 'to address each other'; character dictionaries say, 'to spit out'; here we take it as calling out to one another. Not falling back again to re-enter samsāra and cultivate non-Buddhist teachings is called 'do not go elsewhere.' 'I will increase your wages' means giving you the four roots of goodness of cultivated wisdom, thus adding to the previous stages of wisdom arisen from hearing and reflection.
