贊曰：此告今也。《佛地論》說：「法華會上不定種姓根機成熟，應捨分段受變易身，迴心向大。」故言於此會遇得之，感應相符故。昔曾化以大乘，故言實是我子等。我之菩提、涅槃財物，子所應得、是子所有，先所利他之出、自利之內功德。是子所知。我今皆付。

The commentary says: This announces the present [recognition]. The Buddhabhūmi-śāstra states: "At the assembly of the Lotus Sūtra, when the faculties of those of indeterminate spiritual disposition matured, they ought to abandon the fragmented [samsaric] birth and death, take up the body of transformative change, and turn their minds toward the Great [Vehicle]." Therefore it is said that he met with and gained him in this assembly, because stimulus and response corresponded. Having formerly converted him through the Great Vehicle, he therefore says, "In truth, he is my son," and so forth. My wealth of bodhi and nirvāṇa is what the son ought to receive, is what belongs to the son; the former external merits of benefiting others and internal merits of self-benefit are known by the son. I now entrust them all [to him].
