贊曰：正思拔濟也。「妉」者樂著。「湎」者醉亂嬉戲縱逸。餘意可知。「妉」「媅」皆丁含反，愛樂也。翫著作「耽」。三字皆得。「湎」音無兗反，亦嗜著也、亂也。古文「䤄」。有作「媔」「愐」，不知所從。「䤄」《說文》「妉於酒也」。

Commentary: This is directly considering rescue. "*Dān*" (妉) means indulging in attachment. "*Miǎn*" (湎) means being intoxicated and distracted, indulging in frivolous play without restraint. The rest of the meaning can be understood. "妉" and "媅" are both pronounced *dān* [dīng-hán fan], meaning fondness and pleasure. For indulgence, it is written "耽". All three characters are acceptable. "湎" is pronounced *miǎn* [wú-yǎn fan], which also means addictive attachment or confusion. In ancient script it was written "䤄". Some write "媔" or "愐", which are of unknown origin. For "䤄", the *Shuowen* states: "Addicted to wine."
