Commentary: The fourth major section below has six and a half verses, which versify the parable of escaping disaster by heeding his words. It is divided into two: first, one and a half verses on the children escaping disaster; next, five verses on the father's wish being fulfilled and his mind being at peace. This is the first.
"Immediately competed in rushing out" means mutually encouraging one another. "Galloping and running out" means heroic and vigorous effort. "Reaching the open ground" means, according to what is appropriate for each, leaving the three obscurations and abiding on the ground of the two emptinesses, which is the stage of no-more-learning of the two vehicles and entering the first bhūmi. It is escaping the suffering and perils of mortal death (saṃsāra of delimited portions), because there is no further rebirth. Evil fruits are called suffering; evil causes are called perils.
