贊曰：此唱利用。能滿四願。「度」者離越義。「解」者斷修義。一未離苦者願令離苦，二未斷惡修善者願斷惡修善，三未得安樂者願得安樂，四未成佛得涅槃者願成佛得涅槃。《瓔珞經》說「知苦、斷集、證滅、修道為四弘願」，亦即是此。此中四種，苦、集、道、滅如次配之。

The commentary says: This proclaims the beneficial functions. It can fulfill the four vows. "To cross over" has the meaning of departing and transcending. "To liberate" has the meaning of severing and cultivating. First, for those who have not yet departed from suffering, he vows to cause them to depart from suffering. Second, for those who have not yet severed evil and cultivated good, he vows to cause them to sever evil and cultivate good. Third, for those who have not yet attained peace and joy, he vows to cause them to attain peace and joy. Fourth, for those who have not yet accomplished buddhahood and attained nirvāṇa, he vows to cause them to accomplish buddhahood and attain nirvāṇa. The Yingluo jing says: "Knowing suffering, severing origination, realizing cessation, and cultivating the path are the four great vows"; this is precisely it. Among these, the four are matched in sequence with suffering, origination, the path, and cessation.
