贊曰：此明所滋長用。有二：初二頌稟閏生長，後一頌稟閏鮮澤。上中下等三品不同唯在樹中，稱其大小者，大小二木並有三故。根莖枝葉四義如前，此等各有華之與菓、皆有光色，外作用故。華總喻因，菓總喻果，餘文可知。

Commentary: This explains the functions of what is nourished and grown. There are two parts: the first two verses concern receiving moisture and growing; the latter verse concerns receiving moisture and becoming fresh and lustrous. The three differing grades of superior, middling, and inferior are found solely among the trees; as for their being designated large and small, both the large and small trees have these three grades. The four meanings of roots, stems, branches, and leaves are as before. Each of these has flowers and fruits, and all possess luster and color, which are their external functions. Flowers generally exemplify causes, and fruits generally exemplify fruits; the rest of the text can be understood.
