贊曰：下第二段三十四頌半頌稟閏各異合中長行有四，今此唯三：初四頌半自標召集，次九頌佛應導利，後二十一頌生聞獲益；唯無第二他聞普至。初中有二：初三頌半標，後一頌召。此初也。雖有種性，未曾聞法，乏法名為枯槁。「槁」亦枯也。

Commentary: In the second section below of thirty-four and a half verses versifying the combination of receiving moisture variously, the prose text had four parts, but here there are only three: first, four and a half verses state and summon the gathering himself; next, nine verses on the Buddha's responsive guidance and benefiting; finally, twenty-one verses on sentient beings hearing and obtaining benefit; only the second, the universal arrival of others upon hearing, is missing. In the first part there are two: the first three and a half verses state, and the latter verse summons. This is the first. Although they possess spiritual disposition, they have never heard the Dharma; being bereft of the Dharma is called withered and dried up. "Gao" (槁) also means withered.
